Square Dancing is a fun-filled recreation that is suited for all ages. It has been designated the Folk Dance of California and is proposed as the National Folk Dance. Square Dance Clubs form to have fun, enjoy the fellowship and exercise of dancing, teach others the dance and promote a really healthful exercise. You can learn more about the fun of square dancing by visiting A New Song and Dance Routine.
The KRAZY DAZYS formed in 1958 for just this purpose. Originally formed as a married couples only club, we have since expanded to be a 'couples' club. This means that each person has his/her own partner. We dance at the 'plus level'. The club enjoys many activities, a pancake breakfast in the spring, a picnic in the fall, two hoedowns ( one in January and the other in April or May), a Christmas party in December and other events as people want to organize them. Many of our members enjoy dancing at hoedowns and attending weekend festivals. Each year we try to have a class to teach others how to participate in this great activity of square dancing.
We meet in Cupertino at Hyde School, 19325 Bollinger, on Wednesday nights during the school year. We usually dance from 7-9 pm. During the summer we dance at other locations. Our caller is Jim Osborne, a highly regarded caller/instructor who also calls for the Roadrunners, Caper Cutters and Katydids.
